Anyone up on the early develop history of Lang Designo
I am looking to learn all I can about the early history of Daimler-Benz Lang Designo premium, special-ordered paint and interior packages?
About all I know so far is that group offered just about anything a customer demanded on the 1995 S-Class. But I have seen earlier European delivered S and E class examples with impeccable interiors of Mercedes quality in almost every style, color, fabric or leather imaginable.

Does anyone have any knowledge of the history of Lang Designo? Was it first an independent studio similar to AMG? Or was it a name acquired by an existing Daimler division? I understand Mercedes has had a life-long history of catering in-house to their legacy patrons or anyone else with deep enough pockets. Here is one I know of that precedes the 1995 S Class by nearly a year and a half. Mercedes is in the process of 'remanufacturing' the car and they can only offered that perhaps Designo was responsible for it as the quality is excellent. One of the senior staff working occasionally on the car mentioned the seats are Recaro from the era. But beyond that no one at the Classic Center has a clue.

Any memories, references or sources that can lead me to learning more details about Mercedes premium paint and interior offerings prior to 1996? I am not interested post 1997, unless the info offers perspective to the early-90s era.

Thx beforehand for everyone's help.
