To sell or not to sell?
bagof
Would appreciate anyone's expert advice on this...

I bought my w124 1986 two years ago - mainly because it was big enough for me to get into and it was in excellent nick.

I've used it as a second car, for when my wife is using the main car at weekends.

However, I'm not a car enthusiast and don;t really know how to look after them.

The car has been no trouble but is starting to go downhill, in terms of one of the mouldings on the outside of the door has come loose, the radio is on the blink, the boot leaks through one of the seals and the other day so bastard pulled off the bonnet badge.

So I'm trying to decide whether to sell now, perhaps to an enthusiast who can look after it properly, or whether to hang on to it for as long as I can until it gives up one day.

What would you advice? I bough it for $5,500, so would probably be looking for $3,500...

Only because I can get in it (being v tall). Otherwise, I don't have any attachment to the car. To me, cars are just another household appliance.

The general consensus is that these were the last good, solid mercedes made. The later model have too much electronics and thinner bodies. Bits and pieces for them are much cheaper than japanese cars. Of course, it will cost you money to keep it running, but then so will any car you buy. The prices of these fine classics have pretty much hit the bottom and will only go up from here.

Spend a few day fixing up your problems and you should be rewarded…these cars have souls and appreciate a little TLC.
